Newletter

Term One
Welcome parents, whānau and caregivers to the beginning of the year. I am very excited to start a new year of learning and fun with the students in Room 6. This year Room 6 will be taught by Mr Hill and Mrs Walker, who will come in fortnightly to take my release day. This year my personal focus is to help students take responsibility and develop personal independence with their learning at school and at home. I hope students have had an enjoyable and relaxing summer, as well as kept those brains busy with some good reading over the break.

Beach Education and Swimming Lessons
Next week on Tuesday 11th February the senior syndicate will be going to Riversdale beach, to learn swim safety. Room 6 requires parent volunteers to take vehicles to and from school out the beach. Please contact me a.s.a.p if you are able to help.  In week 3 the senior syndicate will begin swimming lessons. Students will complete four swimming lessons during the week.
Stationery
Students will have received stationery today at school. Some items from the student’s stationery will be retained by the teacher and distributed throughout the year so that they last. Please can you pay your stationery fee at the office.
                Homework
Homework will begin next week. Students will receive a homework sheet each Monday and bring it back to class on Friday completed. It will consist of recording reading, spelling that should happen every night and an inquiry question about learning happening in the class. More information about this will be outlined in next week’s homework sheet.
                Classroom Blog
Room 6 has a classroom blog that can be accessed from our school website. There are multiple online education activities which children can access. The blog is updated throughout the week with pictures and activities.
Parallel Teaching
This year Room 6 and 7 will be working alongside one another within curriculum areas. Your child may end up learning in another classroom during their day.
                Support
Room 6 has an open door police, which means you are welcome to come in at any time you like. If you have any concerns or would like to help out please come contact me at school or via email.

Thank you

Mr Hill
