Riversdale - Year 5 Camp 2011

A huge thank you to everyone involved who made the break from school so fantastic. The students demonstrated just how much they have grown up this year. They behaved with maturity and were ideal ambassadors for Fernridge School. Here are just a few of our memories. Watch the term 4 video to see more.

Making our own Commercials

As part of our writing this term into persuasive texts, the students have been creating and writing their own TV commercials. The aim of the ads is to persuade the audience to buy their particular product. I cannot wait to see the results of their work.

The first completed was by Maggie, Teagan and Brookyn and here is their ad for the SSS Spycam - a clever way of catching would-be thieves in action ! Well done girls. Very clever.

Last Place in Final

Well done Red Team for making it to the final. An extra special well done to Byron for trying to keep the team focused in the semi-final.

MasterChef Final

A huge well done ! The second and final place in the last round of MasterChef will be announced later in the week.

Enviro Clean Up

A small group of room 6 dudes and dudettes helped clean out the chook enclosure yesterday and give the chooks a wing clip to try and stop them escaping from their new home. I nearly mistook Cassidy for a hen and cut her pony tail off !! Whoops !

Teagan, Brooklyn and Leah were chosen to have extra time out the classroom yesterday to help me do some important enviro jobs around the school. The first job was to sort out the shade house - get it ready for the new growing season. The girls helped rehinge the door and sort out the broken lock after giving it a wicked clean out.After doing a similar job with the greenhouse they all were very disappointed when they had to go back to class in the afternoon. Sorry guys !

Young Einsteins !!

They have been impressing me again today. The focus for this week has been the five times table and solving problems using their new fancy skills. Here we have Jacob and Byron showing great ability in being able to solve the problem 23 x 5. Awesome progress since the start of term.

Room 6 Stars

What can I say ? The kids in Room 6 are just amazing. In maths this term they are learning a range of different ways of multplying and dividing.

Some of the students are now able to do amazing things. These images are just a selection of some of the skills now being shown during maths time. I am very proud of all of your achievements.
